Jamie’s practice focuses on state and federal regulatory compliance, information privacy and security, government investigations, health care operations and corporate transactions.

Having served both in healthcare administration and as a federal regulator before entering private practice, she offers clients a unique perspective and practical advice to assist them in navigating the complex legal issues and business concerns currently facing the health care industry.

Prior to joining Silhol Law, Jamie served nine years with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) as an investigator and supervisor. Jamie served as the lead investigator for HIPAA breaches in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana and regularly advised HIPAA Covered Entities and Business Associates regarding their compliance programs. She also worked with the Health Information Privacy Division in Washington, D.C. on policy issues stemming from the passage of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.

Jamie also served in the U.S. Department of Justice. As a Special Assistant United States (U.S.) Attorney in the Northern District of Texas, Jamie worked with the HHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and with State Medicaid Fraud Control Units to investigate and prosecute civil cases involving violations of Stark Law, Anti-kickback laws, and the False Claims Act (e.g., submissions of fraudulent Medicare and Medicaid claims.)

Jamie earned her Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas Tech University and her Juris Doctorate from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. She is active in the leadership of the Dallas Bar Association Health Law Section and is a frequent speaker on HIPAA, HITECH, and information privacy and security.
